In this post I am going to tell you about the race and the general atmosphere of being at the Le Mans 24 hour race.
Here is the pit lane, I like seeing the cars coming in and going back out again so quickly.
We walked around some parts of the track on Saturday afternoon during the first few hours of the race. Here I am at the Dunlop Curves.
The weather from Friday afternoon until the start of the race was rather wet and miserable. Within a few laps of the race beginning it started to brighten up. By late afternoon I was able to rest in the sun.
We stopped in various places to watch and get different views of the action.
I like walking around and getting a good feel for the atmosphere.
In the Corvette Corral I found a good spot by the fence.
We were able to watch the race coverage on TV in the Corvette Corral marquee. It was helpful to keep track of all the action. Paul listened to the Le Mans radio as well so we knew what was going on.
Now for some pictures of the cars. Here is the number 4 Audi, it finished 3rd.
This is the Nissan Delta Wing.
The Delta Wing crashed right by the Corvette Corral.
The driver tried really hard to get it going again, but with no luck, it was just too broken.
This is a good atmospheric shot!
I like seeing the sunrise on Sunday morning after getting a little bit of sleep.
Here are the marshals waving flags at the end of the race, I didn’t manage to get a picture of the winning cars.
I had a really good time, Le Mans is such a brilliant race weekend! My next post will be about the corvettes.
