Cotswold Driving

Pauly had some work done on his car this week and wanted to take it out for a drive on Saturday. We headed off to the Cotswolds and went to Broadway.

It was lovely and sunny, we had a nice walk and did some shopping.

We drove a bit more and ended up at Caffeine and Machine for some food.

There were quite a few interesting cars to look at and we had some good food.

Sunday Driving

Our car went in for a service and we had a courtesy car for a few days, a brand new Boxster S! We went for a little outing so we could see what it was like.

We drove to Baileys Home Store near Ross on Wye.

It was a gorgeous autumn day.

We had a short walk in Ross on Wye before driving back home.

We enjoyed the car and even had the roof down part of the way, but Pauly prefers his 911 even if it isn’t quite so new!

Celebrating in Scotland

Last weekend Zoë, Pauly and I took a trip to Scotland to celebrate Pauly’s Mum’s Birthday.

We saw the Angel of the North in the rain!

We stopped for some lunch at Sainsbury’s, we had toasted sandwiches.

We went slightly out of our way so we could visit our friends in Edinburgh. During our brief stop with them we went to The Wee Shop for pastries, it’s was really tiny, but the pastries were big and excellent!

After pastries we travelled on to Melrose for our family celebrations.

On Saturday night went out for a fancy dinner at The Hoebridge. Our meal included lots of wine!

We ate loads of cake during the weekend!

Ambleside Part 2

We walked from Ambleside to Grasmere and back on the Saturday. It was a long but enjoyable walk.

In Grasmere we visited Allan Bank again as we really like the house.

We bought some Gingerbread as it is so yummy and all our friends wanted some too!

We had some refreshments before outer return journey.

Unfortunately we had a very wet Sunday. We spent most of the day eating and staying indoors!

We travelled home on the Bank Holiday Monday. We decided to go to Hawkshead before we left the Lake District behind.

The Beatrix Potter Gallery was very interesting and worth visiting.

Bank Holiday Weekend in Ambleside

We had a long weekend trip to the Lake District over the bank holiday weekend.

We stopped at Sizergh Castle for some lunch and had a good walk around the garden and explored the house.

We went on to Ambleside and arrived our lovely B&B, Haven Cottage.

We had a bit of a walk around town even though it was a bit wet, and then had an early dinner at Dodds.

The evening light was beautiful on our walk back.

The next day started with an amazing breakfast!

Friday was showery so we planned some indoor activities, starting with Brantwood House, home of John Ruskin.

It was a bit too wet to look round the gardens so we had a coffee and decided to go on to Blackwell House.

We arrived and had lunch, cauliflower soup.

It was an amazing Arts and Crafts house, full of beautiful details.

We had fish and chips for tea and saw an excellent rainbow while we were out.

Brighton

Zoë went to visit her sister in Sussex. We went on a shopping trip to Brighton. It was a beautiful day and the perfect weather for shopping!

We stopped for a picnic lunch in the Pavilion gardens.

We had a small detour on the way home to have another mini picnic and look out over the Sussex countryside.

Oxford

Zoë and Pauly went to Oxford for a couple of days to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary. I, of course, went with them.

We traveled by train and had a pleasant journey.

The first thing we did was have some coffee at Ratio Cafe.

We did a bit of shopping and then had lunch at George Street Social. Zoë and I had pancakes.

The weather was wonderful and we enjoyed exploring in the sunshine. We went to the Covered Market, Objects of Use, and the Shop at the Old Fire Station.

We checked into our hotel, Malmaison, which which used to be a prison!

Our room had a little balcony with excellent views.

We did some more exploring in the late afternoon sun.

We had ramen noodles for dinner. The steamed buns were excellent!

The next day was grey, damp and a bit chilly. I prepared myself with a big breakfast!

We went to the Ashmolean Museum.

Next we went to the Museum of the History of Science. A very interesting museum with lots of cool brass instruments!

Zoë spent ages in Blackwell, she does love a bookshop!

We finished our trip with pizza at Franco Manca.

We had a brilliant time and look forward to going back again soon.

Spa Weekend

At the start of May Pauly took me with him to Spa Francorchamps for the first race of the World Endurance Championship. We drove to Belgium via the Channel Tunnel.

After a journey of about eleven hours we were ready for beer and fries with mayo!

We were at the circuit from Saturday morning.

Lunch, time for more fries.

Racing! It was an exciting race and Spa is very beautiful.

After a long day at the circuit we went out for Dinner
