Last weekend Zoë, Pauly and I took a trip to Scotland to celebrate Pauly’s Mum’s Birthday.
We saw the Angel of the North in the rain!
We stopped for some lunch at Sainsbury’s, we had toasted sandwiches.
We went slightly out of our way so we could visit our friends in Edinburgh. During our brief stop with them we went to The Wee Shop for pastries, it’s was really tiny, but the pastries were big and excellent!
After pastries we travelled on to Melrose for our family celebrations.
On Saturday night went out for a fancy dinner at The Hoebridge. Our meal included lots of wine!
We ate loads of cake during the weekend!
A couple of weeks ago now we spent a long weekend in Liverpool. It starting out being a shopping trip, but ended up being a lot of eating!
We stayed at the Pullman.
Our room was very nice. On the Friday night we ate dinner at the hotel and drank lots of cocktails.
On Saturday we had breakfast at Siren, the veggie breakfast included halloumi so Zoë was very happy.
We walked around the shops for a bit and then had a late lunch of massive pancakes at Moose Coffee. They were so good!
We walked back to our hotel at dusk.
We had a big dinner at Wahaca, including cocktails!
On Sunday we had another walk around the shops and the Zoë and I caught the train home. Pauly was staying in Liverpool for work on the Monday.
Last week we went to Cheltenham for a mini holiday. We stayed at the Queens Hotel. It was a Mercure last time we went, now it is a fancy MGallery. We had a very nice room.
We arrived quite late and went straight to the hotel restaurant for dinner. Our meal was delicious. Zoë and I had soup, and then artichoke tarts with spinach.
The next morning we went out for breakfast, I had scrambled eggs.
We did a little bit of shopping and then had lunch, I had quiche.
After lunch we did some more shopping and had a nice walk around Cheltenham in the sunshine. We had dinner at Daffodil which is in an old cinema, it was an interesting building.
Zoë and I had soup and then cauliflower cheese.
We started the next day with breakfast, a bagel with peanut butter!
We left Cheltenham and went to Winchcombe on our way home. We had a bit of a walk and then a nice tapas style lunch!
We had a lovely time on our mini holiday, even if it was mostly eating lots of tasty food!
Last week we went to Brighton to celebrate Zoë’s birthday. We managed to eat a lot of food. And Zoë did lots of shopping. We started our trip at the seaside.
We had some sandwiches for lunch and enjoyed the sunshine.
Then we walked along the sea front and saw the West Pier. Then we walked into town.
We stayed at the Mercure Hotel, it looks pretty grand from the front.
After an afternoon of shopping we went for a big dinner at Food for Friends. It was really yummy and lots of fun.
Then we needed lots of sleep to recover from our busy day.
We started all over again with breakfasthte next morning!
The last day of our little holiday was also Pauly’s birthday. We started the day with hotel buffet breakfast, my favourite!
Most of the day was spent at the Malvern flea market. In the evening we celebrated by going to an all you can eat buffet. We all ate a lot!
This year we had two Christmas Days! One with Zoë’s family and one at Emily’s on Boxing Day.
To get into the festive spirit we went to see some reindeer on Christmas Eve. They were visiting the local garden centre.
On Christmas Day morning we started with breakfast which included one of my favourite Christmas things, bucks fizz!
We had our Christmas Dinner at lunchtime, we had the traditional ‘too much’ to eat!
We had lots of fun opening our presents and having time together as a family. Zoë and Paul took me home about 6pm, but it does take us a long time to get back so we couldn’t stay too late.
On Boxing Day we went to Emily’s, her Christmas tree was very pretty.
Again we had lots of presents and then lots more food!
We followed the food with lots of drinking and playing games. The whole day was lots of fun.
This week I went to Ikea and ate some meatballs. They were good.
During our shopping trip I discovered that even really small toy Ikea furniture is too big for me, which was a shame as I could do with a chair.
